Grenada sports

Cricket
As with virtually all the Caribbean islands, cricket is a much loved sport in Grenada. It was brought to the island by the English and soon adopted as one of the island’s most popular sports.

It is played all over the island – a Sunday afternoon in rural Grenada is not complete without the sound of ball on willow echoing through the trees. The majestic National Cricket Stadium proved to be the most picturesque venue during the recent cricket world cup.

There are a number of sports centres, parishes, schools and clubs throughout the country with dedicated cricket facilities, meaning that Grenada can cater for any type of cricket tour at any time of the year.

Netball
Netball tours to Grenada are very popular due to the high standard of facilities and opposition, as well as the charms the island has to offer.

Players will receive a thorough test against well prepared, focused teams. Games are played at the fantastic, Tanteen complex.

Football
The popularity of football in Grenada continues to grow rapidly. It is played by both men and women throughout the island.

There are excellent pitches and facilities at St George’s Medical University and the Tanteen Complex.

Athletics
Athletics is huge in Grenada, with hundreds of people taking part in many events throughout the year. Whether you are interested in having a competitive athletics meeting or simply going out for some winter training, Grenada is a superb destination to cater for your needs.

The athletics facilities are excellent at the Tanteen Recreation Ground and all events are organised by experienced officials. Touring groups can also enjoy some more light-hearted training at one of Grenada’s weekly hashing events.
