About Grenada

Nice ‘n’ spicy
Grenada is a land of huge variety – a mountainous island covered with fragrant spices, lush rainforests, rare tropical flowers and some of the most stunning beaches you could wish to see.
Nicknamed the ‘Spice Island’ Grenada is a major source of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and cocoa – smells that drift across the island and seem to find you wherever you are.
The rolling interior of the island is laced with cascading waterfalls, mountain crater lakes, rivers and valleys, all surrounded by over 40 typically Caribbean beaches.
Bustling food markets and picturesque towns dot the island – the capital St Georges is widely regarded as the loveliest town in the Caribbean.
A visit to Grenada really is an eye-opening adventure with plenty of new experiences at hand for those willing to explore between sports fixtures.
Sport, sport, sport
Grenada is a sporting destination with a difference. As well as the more traditional sports such as football, cricket and netball, touring parties can also enjoy some of the finest athletics facilities in the Caribbean and those looking for a more laid back ‘tour’ might want to indulge in some dominoes or bridge!
But the most unusual sport on the island, one that is heaped in tradition and adventure, is hashing. See the Grenadian sports section to find out more!
Its people
The beauty of the island is enhanced by the easy rhythm and friendly openness of the locals. Visitors are made to feel very much home by people who are hugely proud of their land, extremely friendly and even willing to open their homes to visitors so they can experience Grenadian hospitality in all its charm!
Grenada is ethnically diverse with 85% black, 13% mixed black and European, 5% European and East Indian plus a very small trace Arawak/Carib Amerindian.
