What documents are required when I arrive at the airport in Barbados?
You will need a passport and a valid return ticket. You should also complete your customs declaration form before you reach passport control.
Do I need a visa to travel to Barbados?
If you are not a citizen of the Caribbean Community, the USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Spain, Italy or the UK, you will need a visa to enter Barbados
Do I have to pay a departure tax?
All people departing from Barbados have to pay $50 Bajan or $25 US.

What kind of banking and financial services are offered in Barbados?
In Barbados the commercial banks are open 8am-3pm Mon – Thurs and 8am – 5pm Fri. Travellers cheques, credit and debit cards are accepted throughout the island. Currencies used on the island are the Bajan dollar and US dollar. $2 Bajan = $1 US = 50p.
What is the Barbados health service like?
Health facilities on the island are excellent for both locals and tourists. There are also a number of spas, pharmacies and wellness centres.
What telecommunication services are available in Barbados?
Cable and Wireless currently provide a fast and reliable telecommunications service in both land line and cellular communications.
Does Barbados have a reliable supply of electricity?
The Barbados Light and Power Co. Ltd. provides the island with a reliable electricity supply. Be aware that power outages sometimes occur during severe weather but in most cases is restored quickly. Electricity is supplied at both 110 volts AC and 220 volts AC in most modern buildings.
Do I need any jabs before I travel?
No vaccinations are needed before travelling to Barbados
What are the chances of there being a hurricane during my stay?
Hurricanes tend to avoid Barbados – there hasn’t been a major threat since 1980. The wet season lasts from June to November but the showers are usually just quick downpours.
What is the official language of Barbados?
The official language is English although Bajan dialect is spoken widely.
